I said I thought I'd get more posts in once I got into a routine... So far, that routine has yet to materialize. I'm getting closer, but nothing in stone yet.
My day consists of three things. Work, Work out, and sleep. Eat if you can find the time.
No, it's not that drastic. I usually wake up somewhere between 0945 and 1030. I get up, turn the computer on, and (in no particular order) check Facebook, my webcomics, e-mail, etc.; I also try to make sure I read my bible and pray every day. I'm actually a little frustrated that it's not the first thing I do every day, but it's getting there. So, the morning is kinda slow. Work starts at noon, with a break for lunch and dinner. There's also a certain amount of downtime for me to use the internet cafe in the building, which is 8 computers, connected to the world wide web, with very little in the way of blocked sites. most people use it for Facebook or for Skype. Around 2000, work slows way down, because the days shift is leaving. So, I have a little more free time, but I have to stay close to my desk in case the phone rings. at midnight, when I get done, I head back to my CHU to work out and hop back on the internet. I usually(most regularly chat with my family or my friend Nicole on skype. Otherwise, I'll watch a movie or some tv to wind down, or lurk on the forum where I'm playing a play-by-post Hunter game.
With my half day off every week, i attend the church service, use the rec center's wifi(because it's faster) and watch movies or read.
I'm currently reading...
the Bride Collector
Mass Effect: Ascension
The Complete Sherlock Holmes, VOL II
And I was reading Kilkenny by L'Amour until someone stole it out of the latrine at work. Jerks.
I'm listening to...
The Best of Lynyrd Skynyrd
Tonic Sol-Fa(which, if someone could send me a copy of From Boston to Beijing, I'd love you forever, because Zune won't sell it to me.)
Black Betty by Ram Jam
Footloose by Kenny Loggins
Utopia by Within Temptation(Excellent, by the way)
Music from 45 Days(the Demon Hunter documentary)
Speechless by Steven Curtis Chapman
In case anyone is interested in seeing how a Play-by-forum/post RPG goes, here's the link to my current chapter. http://calloftea.000a.biz/forum/index.php?topic=61.0
I'm really enjoying it so far. If you're interested, we may be able to take on another player or two...
So far, homesickness has not been an issue. My cousin Tyler is looking at not even going home, but trying to go straight to Afghanistan at the end of our tour here. He and I are on similar footing, we don't have wives or girlfriends or kids to go home to. All I have is you, dear reader. (I always wanted to refer to my audience like that...)Though I want to go back to school, so I would only be looking at extending for a month or two, staying on with our replacements.
Just so you all know, I am still working on 'A dark and stormy night', it's just being kinda difficult. when you see it, it will probably still need a lot of work. but keep bugging me about it. because I don't write this for myself. I write it for y'all.
Also, one last shameless plug before I go- Read my friend's webcomic! http://www.evernightcomic.com/
We're gonna start something. as my sign off, I'm going to offer a quote. You have until my next post to figure out what it's from, and to tell me in the comments. Deal?
"Who do I belong to? Not Earth, not World, not Evil, not Mortals, not Riches, not Horrors!
Who do I belong to? Unchanging, Unbreaking, Unfailing, Creator, Immortal, Eternal!"

Again, thanks a lot for the plug, Josh. :) Ironically, and funnily enough, one of our main characters that you'll meet in Chapter 2 is named Joshua. Felt it was a good name, strong and proud, hehe. :3
ReplyDeleteAnyway, if you run out of books/get bored, you can usually find the classics online. Stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle are pretty easily found; same with anything by LeFanu (pretty much). I do recommend you read at least one piece by Italian author Italo Calvino. His book "If on a winter's night, a traveller...' is an absolute mind trip in so many ways.
If you haven't checked it out yet, GrooveShark is a pretty good site for music. Unlike Pandora it does not have interrupting ads during your listening and you can listen to the exact song you want to, but I don't believe there's a random sample filter available (I've never looked for one, anyway). Still, it's fun and offers a chance to save specific playlists with a pretty good variety in regards to musical selection.
Well, just wanted to drop you a line here; let you know I miss you and am glad you're taking things pretty easy (all things concerned).
If I wasn't at camp I would find my copy of Boston to Beijing and send it to you for sure. I'm glad things seem to be going well for the most part for you, and glad you are still writing. I told myself I was going to do NaNoWriMo this year and haven't done anything since, and probably should. Meh. Its just hard at camp. Anyway, miss you buddy, i'm proud of you and will keep you in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteLove ya buddy
Hey, Jason- NaNo isn't until November. You've still got time. I'm just doing some writing to flesh out some of the characters I'm going to use.
