So here we are, at the end of our fourth day here. My initial reaction to the barracks has become less emphatic. They are old, granted, but considering I have a bed, decent climate control and a bathroom, I can't really complain too much. Today I finished SRP or Soldier Readiness Program, in which I was tested for TB, infected with cowpox to protect me from smallpox, and had blood drawn to make sure I don't have the HIV.
I'm not sure what's in store for the weekend, but on Monday morning we start what should be our final exercise before we hit Kuwait. That will last for two weeks, then we'll get a couple days of briefings, a four day pass, and then five days to get ready for a flight that could last upwards of 24 hours.
Whew. Everything feels like it's one of those comedy snowballs... you know the ones. They start rolling downhill and they just pick up more snow and more speed as they go. Our unit is almost at our full strength of 300 personnel (Yes, 300. I didn't miss the implications either.) and we're moving really fast. But we've got a good crew, and it feels like my SGT is finally chilling out. So I have high hopes for the next 390 days or so.
Ummm....
Well, I'm reading through Acts, and I'd be open for suggestions of where to go next... Also, I'm almost done with The Grey Knights Omnibus, which I started sometime last week. I'm doing some planning for NaNoWriMo this year, so I don't get caught off guard this time. My story will center around Marev Terra, a character some of you may be familiar with. Anyway... just a little update there. Hope to hear from you guys. make sure you sign my Guest Book or leave a comment so I know you're tracking with me!
